ICWL is an annual International Conference on Web-based Learning, founded by the Hong Kong Web Society. The first ICWL was held in Hong Kong in 2002. Since then, ICWL has been held in Melbourne (2003), Beijing (2004), Hong Kong (2005, 2011), Penang (2006), Edinburgh (2007), Jinhua (2008), Aachen (2009), Shanghai (2010), Sinaia (2012), Kenting (2013), Tallinn (2014), Guangzhou (2015), Rome (2016), Cape Town (2017), Chiang Mai (2018), Magdeburg (2019), Ningbo (2020), Macau (2021), Tenerife (2022). It will feature a technical program of refereed papers selected by the international program committee, and keynote addresses offered by eminent scholars.
SETE 2023, the eighth Annual International Symposium on Emerging Technologies for Education is also this year organized in conjunction with ICWL 2023, thanks to the University of Technology in Sydney and the Hong Kong Web Society. SETE 2023 is organized in a main track, where research papers about the SETE Topics can be submitted, and in an array of workshops, which will help achieve inclusion and diversity in the overall offer of the symposium. All accepted papers (main track and workshops), presented at the conference, will be published as a volume dedicated to SETE in the Springer series Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS).
Fueled by ICT technologies, the e-learning environment in the education sector has become more innovative than ever before. Diversified emerging technologies containing various software and hardware components provide underlying infrastructure to create enormous potential educational applications incorporated by proper learning strategies. Moreover, those prevalent technologies might also lead to changes in the educational environment, so as learning performance. Meanwhile, new paradigms are also emerging along with the purpose of bringing these innovations to a certain level where they are widely accepted and sustainable. Therefore, this symposium aims at serving as a meeting point for researchers, educationists, and practitioners to discuss state-of-the-art and in-progress research, exchange ideas, and share experiences about emerging technologies for education. This symposium attempts to provide opportunities for the cross-fertilization of knowledge and ideas from researchers in diverse fields that make up this interdisciplinary research area. We hope that the implications of findings of each work presented in this symposium can be used to improve the development of educational environments. SETE is now open to the public for organizing a workshop or track to achieve diversity in the symposium.
