Xiuchun Xiao is currently a Professor with the College of Electronic and Information Engineering, Guangdong Ocean University, Zhanjiang. He received his M.S. degree in computer applications from Hunan University, Changsha, China, in 2004, and his Ph.D. degree in communication and information system from Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, in 2013, respectively.

In 2009, 2015 and 2016, he was a visiting scholar in CAD & CG National Key Laboratory of Zhejiang University, the CRIPAC research center of Automation Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Georgia State University.

His research interests include image processing, pattern recognition, intelligent computing, artificial neural network, etc. He has published more than 70 papers in journals and international conferences, and among them, more than 30 papers are published in the journals such as, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, Information Sciences, Neurocomputing, etc.

Currently, he is the reviewer of several international journals, such as, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing, Neurocomputing, Applied Soft Computing, IEEE Signal Processing Letter, International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, IEEE access.
